Quiet Screen, LLC · Effective October 26, 2026

Quiet Screen is a screen time tool for parents. A parent's device is paired with a child's device, and the parent can block or unblock apps on that child's device, either on demand or on a schedule. This policy explains what the app collects, what it does not, and why. We have tried to write it so you can actually read it.

The short version

  • Quiet Screen has no user accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth.
  • The list of apps you choose to block never leaves your child's device. We only ever see how many apps were selected, not which ones.
  • We collect the minimum needed to connect two devices and keep a schedule running between them.
  • We do not use advertising, we do not run analytics, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for their own purposes.

What we collect

Device and pairing identifiers. When you set up Quiet Screen, each device is given a random identifier, and the pair is given a family identifier. These are generated by the app; they are not tied to you, your Google or Apple account, or anything about you. Our service provider (Google Firebase) also assigns each installation an identifier automatically. Pairing codes are stored briefly and expire ten minutes after they are created.

Your settings. Routines you create — the name you give them, their start and end times, and the days they run — are stored so that both devices agree on the schedule. Routine names are free text, so if you type a child's name into one, that name is stored. We never ask for it and we suggest you do not, but we would rather tell you than let you assume otherwise.

Device status. The child's device reports whether apps are currently blocked, whether a routine is running, whether the permissions it needs are switched on, how many apps were selected for blocking (a count, never the list), how many routines exist, and when it was last connected. This is what lets your phone honestly tell you whether protection is actually working rather than assuming it is.

Technical information. Operating system version, app version, and a push notification token so the child's device can be told promptly when you block or unblock something.

Purchase status. Whether a Quiet Screen Plus subscription is active, and which store it came from. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your card, your billing address, or your store account.

What we do not collect

  • Your name, email address, phone number, postal address, or date of birth.
  • Which apps you chose to block. That list is stored only on the child's device.
  • The contents of any app. Quiet Screen cannot read messages, photos, emails, passwords, browsing history, or anything else inside the apps on a device.
  • Location data.
  • Analytics or behavioural data. No analytics product is enabled in Quiet Screen.
  • Contacts, calendars, photos, the camera, or the microphone.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not allow anyone else to use it for theirs, and we do not sell it.

Permissions on the child's device, and what each one can see

These are requested only on the device set up as the child's device, and the app explains each one before asking.

Usage access (Android). Lets Quiet Screen see the name of the app currently on screen, so it can interrupt that app when it is blocked. It is checked on the device itself and is not transmitted to us or stored. It does not reveal anything inside an app.

Screen Time access (iOS). Lets Quiet Screen apply Apple's own blocking to the apps you selected. The identifiers Apple provides for those apps are meaningless outside the device and are never sent to us.

Display over other apps (Android). Shows the blocking screen on top of a blocked app.

Ignore battery optimisation (Android). Prevents the operating system from shutting enforcement down while the device is idle.

Notifications. For the ongoing notice Android requires while enforcement is running, and to alert a parent if the child's device disconnects.

Alarms and reminders (Android). Starts and ends a routine at the exact time you set.

Quiet Screen does not use Android Accessibility Services. Many apps in this category do. We deliberately do not, because that permission would give the app the ability to read the content of every screen, and it does not need that ability to do its job.

Who else is involved

Google Firebase provides the database, server functions, and messaging that connect the two devices. Information described above is stored on Google's infrastructure in the United States. Google processes it on our instructions as our service provider. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

Apple and Google process subscription payments through their own stores and under their own privacy policies. We receive only the fact that a subscription is active.

No one else receives your information.

Children

Quiet Screen is set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. It is not directed to children, and it does not ask a child for any personal information — a child using a device running Quiet Screen is never asked to enter a name, an email address, an age, or anything else. The identifiers described above are randomly generated by the app and are not linked to a child's identity.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@quietscreen.app and we will delete it.

How long we keep things

Pairing codes expire after ten minutes. Everything else is kept while the pairing is active. When you unpair the devices or uninstall the app, the associated records are deleted. You can also ask us to delete them at any time by writing to support@quietscreen.app — because there are no accounts, please include the pairing or family identifier shown in the app's settings so we can find the right records.

Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored on Google Firebase infrastructure under access rules that restrict each paired household's records to that household's own devices. No system is perfectly secure, but the design keeps the sensitive part — which apps a family blocks — on the device rather than on a server, so the amount at risk is deliberately small.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the information we hold, and to object to or restrict how it is used. Write to support@quietscreen.app and we will respond. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we will update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, say so in the app before it takes effect.
